The year at SAP XM : Review and Outlook

Dear friends of SAP XM,

we had an incredible year and jump-start for SAP XM this year.

So much happened and this overview just shows the highlights over the course of the year:

 

January: 

New unit established as an intrapreneurial startup incl. sales, marketing, product management & development, finance & operations.

Start with Johann Freilinger (Head of Marketing & Communication) together (2 people team).

Creation of first job profiles and recruiting.

Strategy workshop with 12 people supporting SAP XM.

 

February:

Start of Holger Eggs (Head of Finance & Administration).

Workshop with SAP Business Model Innovation team. 

Board meeting with initial customer.

 

March:

Teaming-up with the agency Vertic in Kopenhagen. 

Start of development with initial product & technology team.

Move to new office in Walldorf, building 7.

 

April:

Start of Jörg Anhalt as „Head of Sales & Business Development“. 

Naming and logo defined with „SAP Exchange Media“.

GTM Strategy offsite and start of customer acquisition.

 

June:

Promising customer meeting with positive feedback about SAP XM value proposition:

  • „Logical step for SAP“
  • „The chart with the budget loss is striking”
  • „Right time to start with SAP XM“
  • „The goal is crystal-clear“
  • „There are only a few companies who could do this. SAP is one and our trusted partner“
  • „It would be heaven, if you could realize the end-to-end measurability of advertising“

 

July:

Promising customer meeting with positive feedback about SAP XM value proposition:

August:

Talks with first solution partner to enhance SAP XM platform capabilities. 

NYC visit to team-up with key people supporting SAP XM in US.

Website of SAP XM launched.

 

September:

First external event with DMEXCO in Cologne: Very good traction at the SAP Hybris booth.

 

October:

Go-live of first release after smooth process with SAP’s quality department that performed intense checks, e.g. on performance.

 

November:

SAP XM on the SAP pricelist.

 

December:

Brokerage contract finalized; first contracts signed by the customer.

In particular start of SAP-internal project to migrate to SAP XM. 

Team size reaching approx. 60 people.

 

Outlook for 2016: What's next at SAP XM?

 

  • Active positioning of SAP XM as leading offering in the premium segment
  • Next product releases in Q1, Q2, … with enhanced capabilities like Hybris Marketing integration, self-service UX, integration with leading SSPs, real-time bidder, campaign optimizer
  • Launch of US business (platform operations, office)
  • SAPPHIRENOW with early adopter customers
  • Recruiting of additional talents in all areas
  • Teaming-up with additional partners (solution partner, digital agencies, IT consultants, etc.) and influencer
